Nevada County’s Website Ranked as Only “A+” Rated Website Across the 58 CA Counties
Out of all of California’s 58 counties, Nevada County now has the only county website with a perfect grade of “A+” for government transparency, according to the Sunshine Review, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to government transparency. We relayed last month that Nevada County launched a new website that won praise for its easy-to-use guided navigation, content tabs and a centralized search bar. And when it comes to transparency, county departments will be able to easily post content online in a streamlined process, which means easy access for the public.
The only other California counties to score well in the rankings were Los Angeles and San Francisco, both of which received an “A-“ grade. The Sunshine Review examined more than 6,000 government sites and Nevada County was the only county from California to pass a 10-point transparency checklist to join the ranks of 103 other counties that received “A+” grades.

Michael Barnhart, President of Sunshine Review, commented, “The Sunny Awards recognizes governments that are doing an exemplary job at proactively disclosing information to taxpayers. There are so many organizations and associations that highlight what is wrong with government. We at Sunshine Review are proud to acknowledge those who are doing it right and setting a transparency standard that all governments can, and should, meet.”
