Celebrity murder trial heading to Los Angeles

The extraordinary case of real estate heir Robert Durst is heading back to California in what is sure to be the criminal trial of the decade.

Durst has been the subject of an HBO documentary, which ended last night, focusing on the suspicious deaths of several people associated with Durst over the last couple of decades.

Many have suspected Durst was involved in the crimes, but he has never been convicted of anything.

After his arrest over the weekend, Durst is waiving extradition and will return to Los Angeles to face a murder charge in the 2000 death of a writer and friend who acted as his spokeswoman.
His arrest comes after Durst allegedly confessed to the crimes while talking to himself in the bathroom after one of his HBO interviews. Durst apparently didn’t realize he was still wearing his microphone from the interview while he was in the bathroom.

“What the hell did I do?” Durst whispers to himself.  “Killed them all, of course.”
