Unemployment rates in Bay Area below state average

New job figures from the state’s Employment Development Department show that employment numbers in the San Francisco Bay Area are stronger than in other parts of the state.

San Mateo County's unemployment rate in February was the lowest among the nine Bay Area counties at 3.5 percent.
Two other counties also have unemployment rates below 4 percent. San Francisco’s jobless rate is 3.8 percent, while Marin County’s rate was just 3.7 percent.

Statewide, California’s unemployment rate if 6.7 percent. That’s down from 7 percent in January and 8 percent one year ago.
Solano County had the highest rate in the Bay Area in February at 6.6 percent, according to the EDD.
