San Joaquin County Taking Advantage of Google’s Government Innovation Lab Program
Some 50 leaders and employees across five county departments are being outfitted with project dependent hardware and software.
The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 Tuesday to bring an SADA Systems Inc., a Google partner, for training on the new toys and to install a practice of “Moonshot” thinking. “Moonshot” meaning “shoot for the moon” ala NASA’s Apollo Program.
Depending on which moon San Joaquin County shoots for, the apps package will be catered accordingly to best suit the needs of the county departments.
After the first 50 are trained and ready to go, there is hope that cross-training would take place and a greater portion of the county’s employees could pitch in.
San Joaquin is only the third county to get this opportunity from the tech overlords, Alameda and Kern Counties preceded it. Another three agencies will also get a chance later this year.
