Woman dies after falling off ride at San Bernardino County Fair

A 31-year-old Navy veteran died this weekend after falling more than three stories off a ride at the San Bernardino County Fair.

Sabrina Gordon was on the platform of the “Free Drop” attraction Thursday around 8 p.m. when she fell, according to a statement from the Victorville Police Department.

FreeDrop USA debuted in California this month at the San Bernardino County Fair and is supposed to simulate a “pure free fall” without a bungee chord, harness or wires. The participant can choose from three different platforms to jump from and appears to land on a large, inflated mattress.
Fair officials said the attraction has been shut down indefinitely.

CPR was given to Gordon, who was unconscious. She was airlifted to the Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Colton, where she died at 12:20 a.m. Friday.

Gordon was a 10-year veteran with the U.S. Navy, where she worked in cryptology.
