Sweep of 5 Northern Counties Leads to 30 Arrested Bail Agents

The arrests were made under suspicion of illegal business practices which could translate to “numerous” felony charges.

Sweeping Santa Clara, Alameda, Monterey, San Benito, and Merced Counties, the arrests began last Thursday when one bail agent “arranged his surrender.”

Agents affiliated with prominent bond companies like Aladdin Bail Bonds were included among seven total companies.

All 31 agents involved have had their licenses suspended, one of which was revealed to be a convicted felon.

An investigation revealed the bail agents paying jail inmates for information on newly-booked inmates in effort to get the bond of that fresh inmate.
