City of Fullerton Reaches Settlement in the Kelly Thomas Lawsuit

The lawsuit, brought on by Thomas’ father, was reached the same day that the wrongful death trial was set to begin.

The City of Fullerton has agreed to pay a settlement of $4.9 million.

So it appears that this tragic incident might finally come to a close, over four years since the merciless beating to death of Kelly Thomas at a Fullerton bus depot.

Three years since the chief of police posthumously exonerated Thomas of any wrongdoing in connection with the confrontation.

Three years since the recall election that ousted former Fullerton City Councilmembers, Pat McKinley, Don Bankhead and F. Richard Jones.

And almost two years since an Orange County jury acquitted the two former officers, Jay Cicinelli and Manuel Ramos, of all criminal charges.

Rest in Peace Freddy.

More on the settlement can be found here.
