Two Weekend Music Festivals See Nearly 500 Arrests

The arrests come just three months after the death of two women at a similar festival in August.

HARD Day of the Dead took place at the Pomona Fairplex and saw 310 arrests over two days. Escape: Psycho Circus popped up in San Bernardino and had almost 200 arrested.

Most of the arrests were made on charges of public intoxication, possession of illegal drugs or being under the influence of a controlled substance, police said in a statement. Fake IDs were out in force as well with approximately 100 people being charged with carrying fake identification.

The L.A. County Board of Supervisors convened a task force to examine rave safety after the August deaths of two women at the HARD Summer festival at the same Pomona Fairplex. While the Board had some choice words for the rave operator and considered banning unsafe events from county land, they allowed the Halloween rave to take place in Pomona.

With more than 80,000 people attending the two raves over Halloween weekend, 500 arrests actually works out to be drops in the bucket at less than 1% arrest rate, but it brings up questions over a response from the County Board after the incident this summer.
