Fresno Treasurer-Tax Collector Announces Resignation

Longtime Fresno County Treasurer-Tax Collector and Auditor-Controller Vicki Crow will step down from office on Oct. 14. Crow announced her decision Monday, citing a need to spend more time with her family.

“It is just time for me to retire,” she said Monday. “Some issues have come up in the last year. I really think my priorities have changed.”

Crow was first elected to the position in 2002. She ran unopposed in 2006, 2010 and 2014. Before moving to Fresno, she had worked in the Kern County auditor-controller’s office and had served as president of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants' local chapter.

“I’m sad to see her leave,” Supervisor Henry R. Perea remarked. “I have always had tremendous respect for her and her work and the way she guided the county from a financial lens. ... I think she guided us well on the financial side.”

Board Chairman Buddy Mendes expects an interim replacement soon. Under the county’s charter, the acting treasurer-tax collector could carry out the remainder of Crow’s term, which wraps up on Dec.31, 2018.
