Dreaming of a Career in Transportation? Caltrans is on a Hiring Spree.

If you’ve always wanted to work in transportation, now might be your best chance. Caltrans says it has 1,100 positions available right now, ranging from mechanics to environmental planners and civil engineers.

Job recruiters from the agency will be making the rounds at job fairs, including two in San Luis Obispo County, in the coming months.

What accounts for the hiring spree? Transportation officials say it’s a combination of baby boomer retirees and a swath of transportation projects coming down the pike as a result of the new transportation tax.
