Riverside D.A. Gets a Pay Raise

Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin will see his annual salary increase from $251,964 to $273,463 next week -- an increase of 9%.

Four years ago, the county implemented a new policy that seeks to keep the sheriff's and district attorney's salaries on par with one another. Transparent California lists Sheriff Stan Sniff’s regular pay at $273,463.

The vote on Hestrin’s salary increase was 4 to 1. Supervisor Kevin Jeffries, who is known for his fiscal conservatism, was the lone no vote. He offered no comment on the action.

Figures released last year show that the highest paid Riverside County employees include an assistant sheriff and sheriff's captain; a county administrator; two Department of Mental Health psychiatrists and a medical director; a deputy county counsel; a human resources executive; and a Riverside University Health System health officer, plus its CEO.
