Thanks to Co-Workers, Humboldt Sheriff's Deputy Sees Color for the First Time

One Humboldt County sheriff’s deputy has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving and he owes it all to his loving co-workers.

Jeff Dishmon, who works at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, was able to see in color for the first time in his life this week after his longtime coworker Samantha Freese organized an effort to buy him a pair of enchroma glasses. Other sheriff’s department employs pitched in to bring the awe-inspiring moment to life.

You can watch the video here to see Dishmon’s tearful reaction, as he catches his first glimpse of color.

"(It's) a different world," Dishmon says, crying as he scans the green hillsides that surround him.
