Vanessa Delgado Appointed to SCAQMD Board

Former state senator and Montebello councilwoman Vanessa Delgado has been appointed to the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s Governing Board. She will replace Dr. Clark Parker who was forced to resign, effective April 30, for an alleged charter school scam uncovered by the Los Angeles Times.

“Improving the air quality for millions of Californians in the South Coast Air Basin is a serious responsibility and a public health imperative for our state,” said Senate Pro Tempore Toni Atkins in a press release. “As an experienced local elected official and business leader, I’m confident that Vanessa Delgado is up to the task.”

Delgado is the founder and Managing Partner of Azure Development, “a Los Angeles based real estate development firm focused on creating exceptional communities and completing projects that become catalysts to inspire more vibrant cities throughout the Southwest,” according to its website

SCAQMD’s Governing Board consists of thirteen representatives — three appointed and ten elected — from cities and counties in the South Coast Air Basin.
