Over 8,000 Plants Seized During Pot Raid in Merced

Merced County sheriff’s deputies have made their biggest pot bust of the year, according to the Merced Sun-Star

The raid took place Sunday at a former tow yard in Gustine. Deputies found 21 greenhouses with plants and products worth as much as $3 million. There were also a number of environmental and safety hazards on site. Deputies confiscated 8,086 plants and arrested a dozen people.

Outdoor marijuana cultivation is prohibited in Merced County. Sgt. Ray Framstad said it was the biggest outdoor nursery county officials had ever seen. The Sheriff’s Office suspects it is linked to organized crime.
