Ventura Public Works Holds “Storm Day” Preparedness Event

The Ventura County Public Works Department held its annual Storm Day, a natural disaster preparedness drill, on Thursday, Oct. 9.

Per a press release:

This year’s annual Storm Day training mobilized Public Works crews to clear out the Milligan and Honda barrancas that were blocked by a fallen tree as well as vegetation. The exercise mobilized VCPWA to its emergency Field Operations Centers, Department Operations Centers, and Agency Operation Center, to test the agency’s emergency response plans, response times and processes. In addition, the agency tested its evaluation of information and communication procedures, and analyzed the efficiency of departments, to help identify any areas for improvement in the emergency response plans.

VCPWA Director Jeff Pratt called the efforts “imperative to lead the way in preparing not only ourselves but our processes so that we can protect our community in the event of a natural disaster.”
