This Year’s Super Bloom Could Be a Super Bust

There may fewer flowers in your Instagram feeds this year.

Thanks to an exceptionally dry winter, experts believe the “super bloom” that transformed parts of Riverside County into a botanical paradise last year is unlikely to reoccur in 2020. While some areas could see outsized floral activity, places like Lake Elsinore — which was literally overrun by visitors in 2019 — will be relatively bare.

The city says some poppies are sprouting up in the Walker Canyon area. “However, without substantially more rain in the next couple of months, botanists do not currently believe it will be a super bloom similar to what was experienced last year.”

Guess we’ll have to stick to the food porn posts this year.
