Animal Shelters Emptied as Social Distancers Seek Companions

There’s a bit of good news—wonderful news, actually—out of Riverside County. Thanks to a surge in lonely social distancers seeking companionship, the animal shelters in Riverside have run out of pets for adoption.

Riverside County Animal services showed off their completely empty facility in a gleeful Instagram post last week. Employees cheered as they announced “We cleared the shelter!”

Shelters across the United States have reported increased adoptions during the pandemic, as well as a decline in surrenders. But don’t let that stop you from adopting a dog or cat in Riverside. Animal Services expects to have pets available again this week.
