Jeff Van Wagenen Becomes Riverside's CEO

Riverside county has hired a new executive officer. The Board of Supervisors approved an employment contract with former Assistant County Executive Officer Jeff Van Wagenen on Feb 9.

Wagenen’s contract took effect immediately and will expire on Feb. 8, 2024. It stipulates a base salary of $325,000 plus benefits.

Wagenen has worked for Riverside for the past 10 years. Before his career in public administration, he worked as a defense attorney and did public defense work for the county. He eventually became chief of staff to the county’s former district attorney and then went to work at the county’s Economic Development Agency.

Wagenen is replacing George Johnson who retired in December.
