Placer Urges Residents to Sign Up for Alerts Ahead of Fire Season

Wildfire season is approaching and experts believe this one could come sooner than in years past. To make sure residents are prepared, Placer County officials are encouraging people to sign up for the Placer Alert system if they haven’t done so already.

“Seconds matter. Minutes matter. And sometimes it could be a life or death situation," said Placer County Sheriff's spokesperson Angela Musallam (ABC 10).

Placer Alert is a partnership involving all public safety agencies in Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties. The system alerts residents about emergency events and other critical information like severe weather, road closures, missing persons and evacuations. Partner cities include Colfax, Roseville, Auburn, Loomis, Lincoln and Rocklin.
