Tuolumne Hires New Health Officer

The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors has approved the hiring of a new Health Officer. Dr. Kimberly Freeman will take over on April 19 at a salary just over $230,000.

Dr. Freeman is a practicing physician in Jamestown and East Sonora. She specializes in family and emergency medicine.

“I’ve been able to work with Dr. Freeman on some committees, and I think she is a fantastic woman. I love the fact that she has roots here, she has a young family here, and she has a lot of hands-on experience in the medical field,” said Board Chair Anaiah Kirk, as quoted by MyMotherLode.com.

Mariposa County Health Officer Dr. Eric Sergienko has served as Tuolumne’s interim health officer for the past two years. County leaders thanked him for his service.

The vote to hire Dr. Freeman was 5-0.
