Rex Bohn Appointed to California Cannabis Authority
Humboldt County Supervisor Rex Bohn has been appointed as a county representative for the California Cannabis Authority (CCA), the Times-Standard reports. The board voted 4-1 to welcome the District 1 supervisor after District 5 Supervisor Steve Madrone withdrew his appointment.
The CCA is a Joint Powers Authority established by county governments that provides sophisticated data and analytics access to members. “By providing current, actionable intelligence and reports, local regulators and tax officials will have the power to make decisions efficiently based on facts to increase tax realization and enhance both public safety and economic prosperity,” according to the website.
Bohn is a longtime community leader and a former chairman of the Rural County Representatives of California. As an Emerald Triangle county supervisor, he is keenly familiar with cannabis policy. He has called for “more unity” between counties and state regulators on the issue of cannabis taxation.
