Plumas Hires Butte County Supervisor as CAO

The Plumas County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 Tuesday to appoint Debra Lucero as the county’s new Administrative Officer. She starts her new position Nov. 1.

Lucero currently represents Butte County’s 2nd Board of Supervisors District, but her tenure is coming to an end. Lucero lost her bid for re-election to Peter Durfee in June.

Lucero is a former award-winning journalist and editor with a background in grant writing. She sits on two state arts boards and is a member of the Latino Caucus of California State Association of Counties. Her awards and certificates include the Executive Certificate in Public Leadership from Harvard Kennedy School; the certificate of completion for the National Association of Counties (NACo's) High Performance Leadership Academy; the certificate of completion for the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University; and a certificate from the New Supervisors Institute from the California State Association of Counties (CSAC).

As Plumas’ CAO, Lucero will supervise all county offices, departments, and entities that the Board of Supervisors is responsible for. She will make recommendations to the Board to promote greater efficiency and recommend a county budget.
