San Luis Obispo County’s “battle of the Bruces” is headed for a recount.

District 2 Supervisor Bruce Gibson squeaked out a 13-vote victory in the Nov. 8 election. Now his challenger, Dr. Bruce Jones, is requesting a recount.

Jones would have to pay for the recount. It must begin within seven days of the request, which would put the start date at Dec. 19.

Recounts rarely change the initial outcome of a race, but a 13-vote spread is awfully minimal.
