New CAO Selected in Calaveras County
Calaveras County’s Interim Chief Administrative Officer, Shirley Ryan, has been chosen for the permanent position which was vacated by Lori Norton in October.
Ryan has worked for the county for nearly 25 years. For the past six years, she served as Calaveras’ assistant CAO.
“I was an account clerk over at what was then called the welfare department,” Ryan said. “That was my first government job. Prior to that, I was in the private sector.”
Ryan noted that her experience in accounting will come in handy as the board works to implement a three-year plan aimed at getting the budget in line. She went on to thank the board for its faith and support.
“We are not going to pull out of this unless we work together as a team,” Ryan said. “Nobody can do this job alone.”
Calaveras’ last CAO, Lori Norton, resigned last fall after just 18 months on the job.
