State’s Website sent people flocking to Kings County for vaccines. They were turned away.

Kings County was forced to stop booking vaccine appointments through the state’s MyTurn website last week after a glitch sent people from all over the state to the rural county for shots.

Kings is already running on a low supply of vaccines, which it limits to county residents. Its Hanford clinic site has had to turn away people like Harinder Singh of Fresno, who drove 45 minutes to get vaccinated after booking the appointment on MyTurn.

“MyTurn staff have indicated they are working on correcting the glitch in the system that allows anyone across the state to register for our Hanford clinic site,” Heather Silva, assistant director of the Kings County Department of Public Health, told the Sacramento Bee.

As of Feb 24, California had administered 7,728,120 of its 10,168,620 doses, giving it a ranking of 39 out of 50 states.
