Relaxed Restrictions Continue as LA County Nears Yellow Tier
Los Angeles County is about to look very different. The former epicenter of the pandemic has almost entered the yellow, least restrictive tier. If numbers remain stable for the next week, the vast majority of businesses will be permitted to operate indoors with modifications.
If Los Angeles makes it, it will join Alpine, Sierra, Lassen, and Mendocino counties. The counties of San Francisco, Marin, and Trinity could also enter the yellow tier with Los Angeles next week.
On June 15, the tier system will become obsolete as California is scheduled to fully reopen.
Californians and Angelenos in particular are also likely to see fewer masks in public. State health officials announced Tuesday that they would align with a new CDC guidance that says masks are unnecessary for fully vaccinated people when outdoors, unless they’re in crowds. Los Angeles County also said it would follow the new CDC guidance.
