Gavin Newsom Makes Appointment to Marin Board of Supervisors
Marin County District 1 Supervisor-Elect Mary Sackett will assume her seat ahead of schedule.
Gov. Gavin Newsom appointed Sackett to the seat on Dec. 6. She was due to take over in 2023, but her predecessor Damon Connolly is leaving it vacant after winning election to the State Assembly.
Sackett has served as an aide to Connolly since 2017. From 2004-2017, she was a Senior Associate at the Goldman Law Firm. From 2013-2015, she served as Secretary on the Board of Directors for LIFT Levántate.
Previously, Sackett clerked at the Randolph County Circuit Court in West Virginia and in the Office of Iowa Senator Bob Dvorsky (1998). She is a member of the Marin County Bar Association and earned her Juris Doctor degree from West Virginia University.
Like her predecessor, Sackett is a Democrat. She was elected to a four-year term as District 1 supervisor in June.
