These 10 Counties Will Face the Greatest Wildfire Risk This Fall

Despite record rainfall, experts are predicting another formidable fire season in California. This year, however, it’s Southern California that could see the most damage.

San Jose-based AiDash recently released a list of counties with the most severe fire risk this fall. All counties in the top 5 are in Southern California. Not a single Bay Area county made it into the top 10.

AiDash analyzes satellite data, paying special attention to vegetation, precipitation, temperature and humidity. The company provides feedback to utilities on the risk of vegetation around infrastructure like power lines. The aim to prevent catastrophes like the 2021 Dixie Fire, which started when a tree fell on a PG&E line.

You can see AiDash’s 2023 fire risk map at the San Francisco Standard.
