City of Industry and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Unveil New Mental Evaluation Team (MET) Regional Training Facility

New MET Regional Training Facility will provide deputies with a permanent location to participate in invaluable trainings to enhance their skills and response to situations encountered on the field

City of Industry, Calif. – On Thursday, August 17, the City of Industry, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), will celebrate the unveiling of the new LASD Mental Evaluation Team (MET) Regional Training Facility located at 15530 Stafford Street.

LA County Sheriff Robert Luna will join Industry Mayor Cory Moss to unveil the over 5,000 sq. ft. training facility, equipped with three classrooms and interactive simulators to provide mental health training to members of LASD and members of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Since 2020, the Industry Hills Expo Center has hosted over 86 trainings, including autism and mental health trainings, spearheaded by Mayor Cory Moss who is a strong advocate of the autistic community. Mayor Cory Moss partnered with Kate Movius, founder of Autism Interaction Solutions to provide deputies with effective education in autism identification, safety, and communication tactics to deescalate situations involving individuals with autism or mental disabilities. Once deputies have successfully completed their trainings, they receive certification. Prior to hosting trainings at the Expo Center, classes were held at various LASD facilities. This new training center will now serve as the center for autism training, along with other programs including crisis intervention and veteran culture competency, provided through MET.
