San Luis Obispo D.A. Dan Dow Deployed to Middle East With U.S. Army
San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow is taking leave to serve his country. The top prosecutor, who also serves in the National Guard, is being deployed to the Middle East with the Guard’s 40th Infantry Division as part of Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve. He’ll visit multiple countries including Iraq, Kuwait, and Jordan.
This is the first time the division has been deployed overseas since the Korean War. But it’s not the first deployment for Dow. He served in Kosovo as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and earned the Bronze Star in Iraq.
“I am very pleased to be able to serve the people of the United States and the state of California through my continued service in the California Army National Guard and be part of this historic deployment of the 40th Infantry Division,” Dow said.
“ I am anxious to get to work for the Army and return as quickly as possible to my very rewarding job as district attorney.”
It’s not clear how long Dow will be deployed. Assistant District Attorney Eric Dobroth will serve as acting district attorney while Dow is on military leave.
