Drug courts can reduce recidivism rates, but fewer individuals are participating.
The changes are part of a new contract approved unanimously by county supervisors.
In addition to the deputy rate hikes, some cities will pay more for the facilities the sheriff’s personnel use.
Fire-safe coordinators will be deployed to 24 California counties to oversee operations.
